| Continuing eastward into the room, you find it to be about 50 feet long in total. On some of the vertical wooden posts set into the dirt walls you see heavy nails driven in at an upturned angle, around 5 feet from the floor. The floor itself is quite dirty, for obvious reasons, with a good deal of soil and root bits. The east end of the room doesn't look like it's been disturbed in ages.
Hanging from one of the nails on the east wall is a large brown 'drape-y' shape.

| [IC] "Coat hooks, maybe," Caby wonders aloud. "Probably just the 'foyer' of the place." She prods at the drape-y object to see if is concealing anything living. If not, then she'll examine it more closely.
Once she's done examining that, she'll walk over to Jaral by the archway and examine the markings on the doorway.
[OOC] Are they in any language she can decipher?
(Sorry, that first red was difficult to read...)

[OOC] Are they in any language she can decipher? Dirt and mud flake off the object. It seems to be a cloak. Underneath the dirt, it seems to be green. You don't recognize the symbols.

| [IC] If the drape-y thing ends up being a cloak, and in good condition (and doesn't stink) then Caby will take it. She got a bit chilly walking here and could probably use a cloak.
hehe... crossed posts.

| [IC] After shaking out the mud and dirt, Caby realizes the cloak is way too big for her. She offers it to Ducats, "It looks to be in good condition, if you are in need of a cloak. The color would look good on you!" | |

| [IC] "They don't mean anything to me, Jaral. But it appears to be the only way to go!"
Caby examines the archway, looking for any traps. If she sees none, she'll step through it and begin heading north down the corridor.

| You find no traps, and nothing seems to happen as you step through. You now see you are on a 10 foot square landing at the top of another steep flight of stone stairs. | |

| Jaral shakes his head after a brief look at the runes around the door. "Those don't make any sense to me."
He joins Caby at the landing and looks down into the darkness. "Mmmm, how pleasant," he says, not convincing anyone.

[IC] Caby starts down the second flight of stairs. These stairs descend straight west. After you're down about 10 feet, your lantern light reveals another flat landing. On the left side of the landing is another archway, much like the one you just went through.

| Stepping through the archway, you see straight away that this chamber is larger than the one above. Not only is the floor covered in large paving stones, but the walls here are stone as well, dark and rough-surfaced. From the archway, which lies near a corner of the room, one wall extends forward on your right, disappearing into darkness at the edge of your lantern light, 30 feet distant. The other wall leads off to your left, likewise disappearing into darkness.
Heavy stone pillars, square and ornately carved, reach up to the arched and buttressed ceiling 20 feet overhead. The ceiling here is as thick with hanging cobwebs as the one above was thick with roots. Casting enormous shadows, the pillars march off leftward, 10 feet out from the left wall, and 10 feet apart. Another line of pillars runs parallel to them, at the edge of your light.
You see broken wooden pews among the pillars. In front of you, against the right hand wall, are two dusty, dirty wooden chairs. There is a woman's shoe near one, on the floor.

| Jaral steps over to the chairs. He takes a moment to inspect the shoe and the chairs to see if he can make heads or tails of the situation.
ooc - Is it possible to determine which direction the pews are facing? Would we be at the front or the back of this room?

ooc - Is it possible to determine which direction the pews are facing? Would we be at the front or the back of this room? You believe you'd be at the back. For a moment while examining the shoe, you thought you saw two orange lights over in the darkness toward the other side of the chamber, but they're not there now.

| "Look at the pews - seems like we're at the back of the room. If this is a church or a temple, there must be an altar at...Hey, what was that?"
Jaral peers toward the front of the room, hoping to catch another glimpse. "I thought I saw eyes reflecting our light, maybe. Let's be careful..."

| [IC] Caby, thinking that she might be better off armed with a ranged weapon in such a big room slips her knife and sword back in their respective sheaths and readies her bow, nocking an arrow. She scans the darkness where they spotted the orange lights before, ready to loose an arrow into them if they show up again.
Thus prepared, she'll move a bit further into the room, sticking to the wall in front of her, and waiting for the light bearers to come into the room and move her way to shed light. She is trying to see the extent of the dimensions of the room in that direction.
[OOC] For mapping purposes, what are the dimensions of the columns, Mike?

| The columns are about 2 and a half feet thick. According to the direction of the pews, you move in along what should be the back wall of the chamber. Jaral saw the orange spots over to the other side, back here, as opposed to toward the front.
Reeks moves in with the lantern, and the other back corner, stacked with debris, and the opposite side wall come into view. The chamber seems to be at least 40 feet wide.

| [IC] Caby scans the debris, looking for any signs of movement or disturbance. Then, taking a queue from her experience outside, she looks up to scan the ceiling, as well.
[OOC] Can she see anything that might look like a hiding spot within the debris? Someplace where something might be waiting in ambush still?
[IC] If she spots nothing unusual in the debris or up on the ceiling, then she'll move to the center aisle and start moving forward.
"You're right, Jaral. If this is a church of sorts, then the altar would be up at the front."
