Character sheet Name: Finora the Wolf Slayer Race: Human Class: Fighter
| Subject: Re: Table Chatter 18th January 2011, 5:15 pm | |
| My story is, I have no story:
---
From Finora's character sheet:
Background: If you have just met Finora the Wolf Slayer, you know as much about her as she does herself. Since the morning that farmboy Yan Elgenland found her battered, bruised, and bleeding in the meadow where the family's cows graze, she has been struggling to discover her true past. The single memory that she owns is a name – her name, or at least what she believes to be her name. Perhaps the gods will someday decide that not even that is as it seems.
When she looks at herself in the mirror, she sees a woman of average height, fairly muscular build, reddish-brown hair, and a myriad of ink markings like those worn by the savages of distant lands. The marks are of different styles, varying colors, and disjointed motifs, creating a patchwork of her body that not even the greatest of scholars could ever decipher. She can only assume that the body she inhabits has traveled well and far to have collected these marks, though she has no stories to tell beyond the Elgenland farm.
Since the family has nursed her back to health, the only thing that has felt familiar to her, that has felt as it should, is a sword in her hand and the heft of chainmail on her back. She does not wield a blade like a master – she'll be the first to tell you that – but she is training. And slowly but surely, the body and mind are remembering who they once were, even if the soul does not.
---
So Mike can do whatever he'd like to get me into the story. | |

| Excellent background, SMX!
I must have missed the update to your character sheet...
Now that Mike's back up and running, I'm sure you'll get worked in shortly! | |

| We haven't seen anything from Tagor since November, so I sent an email. If I need to choose between Tagor staying in Vulyar or turning him into an NPC to travel with the party, which option would you vote for? Thanks! | |

| I'd vote for NPC. We would probably want to get a hireling cleric, anyway, right? This would be easier. We could just continue to give him a full share of the treasure and if Chaos comes back then his character is with us and if someone else wants to join they would have the option of just taking him over.
That's my vote, anyway. | |

| Agree that we would use a hireling cleric if Tagor does not return - might as well stick with what we have if that's cool with you, Mike. | |

| Cole or SpaceMonkey, you need to vote on whether we leave Tagor behind or bring him along as an NPC.
Something to keep in mind - in LL rules, clerics get one spell at first level - and they get to level two at 1565 xp, so they can pretty quickly get two first level spells. Not bad to have around for healing...
Oh, hey... didn't we pick up a potion on our first adventure? We need to test that out and find out what it is! | |

| A couple quick thoughts about Tagor, Mike... If he does become an NPC or a hireling of sorts, we should move his character sheet to a thread you can update and then get it updated. He has plenty of money now to get some much better armour than leather. And he has a scroll that we found and gave to him to hold and I can't remember what the spell was... Bless, maybe? | |

Yeah, it just seems to happen once in a while that the board logs you out and you stop getting alerts.. I'll dig around and see if there's anything I can do about it. It's served as more than a passing pain in the ass on several occasions. | |

Now that you have a bit of hard-earned treasure to spend, this is to let you know I'm using some basic 'xp for carousing' rules. Feel free to ask!
Experience points for spending money: This is a very old system, first used by Dave Arneson. In addition to gaining experience for defeating monsters and obstacles, for safely returning hard-won treasure, and for ingenuity and roleplaying, experience may also be awarded at a rate of 1xp per gold piece value of earned treasure spent. If the treasure was not hard-won in the course of adventure, its spending garners no reward. The treasure must be spent on something which has no game-mechanic benefit, but which is appropriate to the flavour of the character. Players may ask before spending if the planned outlay will reward experience or not.
Mike, this is the only information you have posted on the Sticky Rules regarding XP awards. With a new person in the game, it might not be a bad idea to briefly outline all of the different ways in which a person can gain XP (i.e. it's more than just killing bad guys)... | |
